17-1 Competing
Models
-
Competition will be open to all models of American hardtop passenger sedans or trucks with minimum wheelbase of 101 inches and maximum of 112 inches. No station wagons or convertibles.

Chassis types permitted:

Stock style chassis

Stock front clip/tube rear <Old LMSC Chassis>

Tube perimeter style chassis. No offset. Must meet NASCAR Construction specs.

Straight Rail Chassis

17-2 Body Specification
-
Complete bodies with nose and tailpiece, steel, fiberglass, or composite parts accepted. No roof or side spoilers allowed.

A steel anti-intrusion plate should be installed on the driver's side following NASCAR guidelines.

Cars must maintain a minimum roof height of not less than 48 inches when measured from the ground to 10 inches behind the top of the windshield on the roof centerline. Rear of the roof must maintain stock configuration. Minimum body height is four (4) Inches.This measurement must be with the driver in the car, and tire air pressure set to manufacturer’s specs.

Maximum width of rear spoiler must not exceed 64.5” measured across the rear of the spoiler. Maximum height of five (5) inches. Minimum 1/8” thickness. Spoilers must maintain a 50/60-degree angle and must be mounted within the centerline of the body.

All dashboards must be acceptable to track officials.

Must be steel front and rear. Openings must be sealed. Front firewall may be altered for engine clearance and subject to approval by Track Officials.

17-3 Engines
-
A. V-8 gasoline type engines only
-
B. All GM engines must be located so the center of the forward most spark plug hole on the right side of the engine block is in line with the centerline of the front upper ball joint. Ford and Chrysler engines may be located so that the front of the cylinder head on the right side is in line with the center of the upper ball joint. Center of the crankshaft must be the centerline of the frame and tread width, front and rear.

One (1) single carburetor only allowed. No fuel injection, superchargers, turbochargers, or tunnel rams are allowed.

Air cleaner must not protrude through the hood.
-
No opening may be cut in the hood. No tubes, funnels or baffles permitted. Cowl induction will be permitted.

No traction control devices are permitted.
-
MSD boxes are permitted.
-
Exhaust pipes must extend past the driver to the outer edge of the car.
17-4 Car Weight
-
3050 pounds with driver (1350 pounds right side) for stock front clip <Old LMSC chassis>
-
3100 pounds with driver (1400 right side) for full tube style chassis (Perimeter and Straight Rail chassis)
-
Added weight must be in block form of no less than five (5) pound blocks (no pellets) and painted white with the car number on it. Added car weight must be securely bolted in place. Weight may not be added to the outside of the frame rails or ahead of the front spindles or behind the rear axle or inside the driver’s compartment. Dislodged weight will not be permitted to be returned to the car for weighing after the race. Tungsten will not be allowed.

Weight allowance of 3/4 pound per lap.
-
Car weight may be adjusted by LPR officials to equal competition.
-
Total claimed weight must be visible on the right front of hood or on the bottom right side of windshield.
17-5 Cooling System
-
The engine cooling radiator must be acceptable to Track Officials and meet the following requirements:

The radiator must be centered to the water pump. No offset.
-
Overflow pipe must be routed out the right-side cowl area.

17-6 Drivetrain
-
Three (3), four (4) or five (5) speed manual transmission with all gears (including reverse) must be in working order.
-
Blow proof bell housing recommended.
-
If stock housing is used, a scatter shield of belt material must be installed to the floor pan.
-
Driveshaft Must be painted white.
-
Two (2) 360-degree drive shaft loops of 1/4 inch thick required located six (6) inches to twelve (12) inches from each universal joint.
17-7 Tires
-
Hoosier 8” Tires – LPR tire rules applied.
-
No pressure or relief valves permitted.
17-8 Suspension
-
No suspension travel limiting devices allowed. This includes bump stops, bump rods or any other device that stops suspension travel.

Spring rubbers-one (1) spring rubber insert not to exceed one (1) full coil.
-
Shocks - They must remain as manufactured with part number visible and unaltered, with factory paint and will be subject to exchange. If an exchange of shocks is required by track officials, the shocks run by the competitor must be in proper working order. If the shock is damaged or not working properly, the competitor must replace it with either a properly working used one or new one of the same number.

4. No covering of suspension components at any time.

5. Claim Rule - $140 per shock and claim must be presented in writing to Track Officials no more than 20 minutes after the checkered flag is displayed. Top 5 only can claim shocks. Track may claim shock/shocks for tech purposes. (If shock is deemed legal racer receives shock claim, if shock is deemed illegal track keeps shock claim)
17-9 Ground Clearance

The frame rail and sheet metal clearance must be a min. of four (4) inches. Ground clearance is subject to measurement at any time.

The front air dam clearance must be a min. of four (4) inches.
17-10 Brakes
-
A. Four-wheel disc brakes are optional. Single or dual piston caliper only.
17-11 Battery
-
Only 12V batteries will be allowed. The battery must be installed in an enclosed metal box complete with a cover, located in front of the rear axle housing or behind the driver’s seat. The battery box must be mounted inside the frame rails and cannot extend below the bottom of the frame rail. The battery mounting position must be acceptable to Track Officials. Any battery that would be installed during the race must be installed in a battery box.

17-12 Fuel

Track fuel is required. The use of additives will not be permitted.

17-13 Ignition System

MSD Ignition boxes must be mounted in accordance to the NASCAR Weekly Series Rulebook
17-14 Wheels

Must run 15”x8” inch wheels

All 4 wheels must have same offset
-
Car numbers must be painted on wheels.
17-15 Tread width
-
Maximum 66.5 inches.
-
May use wheel spacer to obtain clearance or maximum tread width but must be the same from side to side.
17-16 General
-
Rules may be adjusted at any time for competition purposes.
-
Win 3 races in a row, must start next race in middle of field. If next race is an invert race, will start next non invert race in the middle of the field. (Competitor and chassis must still qualify for race. Failure to take qualifying laps will result in starting in the rear).
